There are two highly rated 3rd party zooms in the range of 28-75, and I was wondering if there's one clear winner over the other?
Tokina AT-X 270 AF Pro II 28-70mm f/2.6-2.8
Tamron AF28-75mm f/2.8 XR Di
(I researched the the Sigma lens in similar focal range, but they scored lower in reviews)

Very happy with the Tamron; can't tell anything about Tokina. When I got the Tamron I faced the same dilemma, but I'm happy with my choice.

The Tamron lives on my camera. I am VERY happy with it.
Light. Decent focus speed... (not as fast as usm). Good bokeh.
You will not be dissapointed with the tamron.

Sorry to take off track but is the tamron range better than the sigma ex range?
Many thanks Eddy

The Tamron 28-75mm has been shown many times to be much sharper than the equivalent Sigma EX lens.

Don't get too carried away there!
The gist of this thread is that the Tamron 28-75 f2.8 XR Di is sharper than the equivalent zoom from Sigma or Tokina (and much cheaper than the Canon L). No one is making claims about the rest of the Tamron range here.
There may be some other gems in the Tamron line-up, just don't assume all Tamrons beat all Sigmas or all Tokinas.
