Dear All
I am keen to make my own flash holding bracket for a Canon 430EX flash on a Canon EOS350D/Rebel XT. (Already made the extended off shoe cable from instructions on the POTN diy sticky!)
The 430EX has a threaded bracket on it its side, intended to allow the Canon sb-e1 bracket to clamp to it. ( The weight of the 430EX on a hot shoe alone looks like it will snap its plastic flash foot quite easily when held horizontally - this side bracket fixing probably makes it a lot stronger.)
Does anyone know what screw thread is used on the 430EX built in bracket (shown on the instructions book p4)?
Or what is the thread of the screw on the Canon brack sb-e1 that fits this?
Sorry to ask this, but it is not the standard 1/4 inch 20 Whitworth tripod screw! It looks like a much finer thread. (Google searches, questions to Canon, even the parts catalog in another POTN thread do not say.)
Many thanks, mh
