Hi,

My Hercules Radeon 9700 Pro died and I'm looking for an alternative. In Finnish magazines Club-3D Radeon 9800 Pro 128MB CRT+T has got good ratings - does anyone have first hand experience with this card, is 2D quality ok/great, is it noisy and are there any better alternatives in that price range (and yes, I do play heavy duty games from time to time - last one I played though was FarCary).

FarCry seems to be pretty much a nVidia game. The Club card is probably another version of the Radeon 9800 Pro, so reviews of other versions will probably give you a hint. The card is sold in Switzerland, but sorry, don't know anything about it.

I've played FarCry on my Parhelia with a few work arounds, but it is still funky. UT2004 and quite a number of others run well on the Parhelia, but in the current state of the art you pretty much have to decide whether you predominately want 2D or 3D. ATI has better 2D than nVidia, but still...

I've got a 9800Pro

Farcry is very good with that card, I am still impressed with it.

2D beats Nvidia too.... but that is an ATI thing :)
