I am having a problem with my copy move. I often upload pictures into a recent-temp type of exhibition with a path gallery/temp. If I like the pictures I want to be able to move them into a long term gallery that is on the same server, but in a different directory. When I do so, the files don't move and the thumbnails are getting messed up. Here is an example of what is happening to the thumbnails in the destination exhibition. Anyone know where to turn? I have been using 777 for permissions, also tried 775 as suggested by another thread. No go. Am going nuts.

Any help is appreciated.

The faulty exhibition is at http://www.melor.com/gallery/list.php?exhibition=20

The first thumbnail was loaded directly into EE using the normal routine.

Hej

Make sure that your ftp_temp directory has permission 777.
It is located directly under your main EE directory.

Thanks for the reply. Yes, my ftp_temp directory has permission 777, and is in my gallery directory where my secret directory is. Should it be in the secret directory?

I learned that the rethumbnail routine works well. I ran it on the files that were corrupted and they were fixed. The fact that this worked tells me that I must have my permissions set right, otherwise it shouldn't have worked. Right?

Another thing I learned is that the "move" moves the information for an image in the database to a new gallery, moves ( unsuccessfully in my case ) the thumbs and microthumbs, but does not move the small/medium/large images to the new location.

I was hoping to move the whole lot. Database/large images/thumb images to the new directory. Guess I will have to do the large images manually.

You can see everything EE did and every error message in message window. Please check that out - any errors in there?

Move moves photos between exhibitions. In EE each exhibition has a separate thumb/microthumb path, but size path information "belongs" to each photo and have nothing to do with exhibitions. This is why moving a photo between exhibitions does not touch size paths - as far as size paths are concerned it does not matter which exhibition(s) a photo is in.

If you want to move size paths from EE editors we would have to have a new tool for that (and we will some day). Currently to do that you must add the new size path to EE, move the photos there manually and then change and save the size path info for each changed photo. You can also use "find size paths" tool to search and autosave all valid paths for a set of photos.

"ftp_temp" folder should be in same level as "languages" folder. EE will not work if you move them around.

Pekka, thanks for the reply. My ftp directory is on the same level as the languages folder and does have the 777 permission. I watched very carefully the messages, and saw no errors.

I used the rethumbnail tool to fix the exhibition, so the thumbnail error won't appear.

I will move one more picture, and not fix, so you can see the results. Here are the FTP messages from the move.

Here is the affected directory: http://www.melor.com/gallery/list.php?exhibition=20 The problem image is obvious, after finding it ( it's the first one ) change the view to microthumb and you will find the microthumb missing.

The image has been downloaded and moved without errors and you have image of 796 bytes on disk there. However the image is corrupted which leads me to this question: have you updated your EE (you run there now) with this fix http://photography-on-the.net/forum/showthread.php?t=30778 ?

That seems to have done the trick. Thanks again for everything Pekka.
