Today's butterflies

At Crook Peak today in Somerset I was chasing grayling and wall butterflies. The walls were especially skittish and had nothing after over an hour's chasing and stalking. So I stacked my 1.5x tele-adapter on top of the 500D close-up lens on my Canon S3. It means I can take moderate close ups from around 3 feet away. Doing this takes a bit of an IQ hit but careful choice of aperture when shooting and some lens correction in Photoshop can get quite good results. Here's what I got, about 3/4 frame:

Graylings were a bit easier to stalk, although they never perch with waings open. Uncropped:

Excellent series of shots/captures, #2 is my favorite love the way the colours all work together in that shot.

Hi Eccles Superb series of shots My fav is the first shot wonderful
its not always easy to get close enough to butterflies but the tele converter has worked well

very nice series, subtle colours and textures. Telephoto is definitely he way to go with butterflies and still more satisfying than sticking an mpe65 in the face of those tame ones in Butterfly Houses.
