Which browser are you using to view the forum?
I stopped using Internet Explorer several years ago - for too many reasons to count.
I just started using Mozilla Firefox (http://www.mozilla.org/products/firefox/). Version 0.9 was released on 6/14/2004. It seems to have everything I need: lean and fast; high level of compatibility with websites expecting IE browsers; multiple browser windows in one main window; popup blocker, etc. I used Opera for a long time but eventually tired of its restrictions, limitations, and hard-line about not permitting ActiveX controls.
I know a lot of forum members are IT pros. Thought I might get some good feedback on the question.

Firefox for me. I was using Mozilla for a long time, but Firefox is extremely stable now. The security is much, much better than IE - which is enough reason for me - but it's also smaller and much faster.

I switched to Firefox back when it was called Firebird. Been using it ever since, and hardly ever boot up IE any more.

Just downloaded Firefox after reading this. I will give it a go.
I hope this is not a dumb question but will Norton Internet security still work when using Firefox also same with my firewall?

I have Mozzila and Firebird installed and do use it sometimes but I still mainly use I.E. Reason being, my wife. If I change one little detail she gets confused and just leaving things the way they are is much easier than trying to explain how things work. That is why she needs her own notebook computer.

Interesting to see so many Firefox users. I switched to Firefox some time ago for its superb ad blocking.

I use IE, Slimbrowser, and Firefox. I rarely use Slimbrowser anymore. It's not even on my laptop. Firefox is fastest.

Found out why Firefox wouldn't work!!! Norton firewall was blocking it ...I now have it running.. Still no fix for IE but this(Firefox) works like Mozilla and I am ok with that.. Firefox has already blocked several popups and notified me it did :?

After having a worm attck my computer, amd resulting in a reformat, I went to Mozilla. I only use IE for my bank's website and a couple of others that Mozilla has fits with. I am pretty satisfied with it. I really like the ability to have tabs (Multiple webpages within one browser window, with tabs for each one) and the personal toolbar folder in Mozilla.
What does Firefox have to offer?

I'm liking FireFox a lot.....
Think I may convert...
I insisted on Navigator gfor years.. but after Version three.. netscape was just a big disaster.. (partly due to MS' medling) but nonetheless...
I am really liking firefox though. Beats Opera! (has some of Operas cool features.. but does them better)

I just installed firefox. Its working fine, but it doesn't seem to have the same cookie management controls that IE6 has. I'll have to do some digging before I decide which to keep!

One thing - it's a web browser...not a news reader, e-mail or IRC chat client, addressbook, etc...just a browser.
It takes up very little space on the hard disk, in memory, and consumes few system resources. It is very fast. Like CDS, I'm coming from Opera which has always claimed to be the fastest. Unlike Opera, it isn't hobbled by serious limitations that make many websites non-viewable.
I have a balky DSL connection which Firefox gets along with just fine.
It is customizable through user-designed "themes" and extensions. Very nice. :)
It's a Mozilla product (a good thing!).

It also seems to load pages much faster than IE for some reason.

I preferred Netscape over IE in the early days and chose Opera over Netscape when Navigator tried to become everybody's everything. But, rather than pay for the add-free version of the Big "O" I started dabbling in the Zilla's. Currently, Firefox 9.0 is on all my SOHO workstations and I've just bumped my laptop up to 9.1. I'm liking the direction Firefox is going and the 'better' way extensions are implemented than in the other browsers.
I do have fully patched/properly configured IE 6.02 XP-SP2 on all my comps for the little content that Firefox doesn't render/transact properly. To be fair, I've implemented extensions which give me tabbed browsing and mouse gestures in IE to level the playing field when comparing feature sets. There's just less and less of a reason why I need to use IE and the way Firefox does things just makes better sense to me atm.
I Like having a 'hands on' approach to my browser and appreciate only loading into the configuration that which I want running. It's Good Stuff (http://www.pbase.com/image/30672256/original.jpg).

Opera and Firefox.
I would sitch to firefox in an instant if I could get the browsing convenience, easy and speed like opera. I know firefox has plugins but they aren't quite working well enough for me yet.

Now that I've read up a little on the cookie controls, I like them too. It was just different than what I had been using with IE (which also has pretty good cookie control in 6.0).
