I've got a new Lens (Tamron 70-300 F4-5.6 LD) for 149 Euros (About 120 US$) here in Germany. As I've told, i wasn't so lucky about the sharpness of the kit-lens.
This one is really sharp. I did no sharpening at all.
Wanna see ? Here ist one example:

Hey,looks pretty good :D
There is allways so little info about the true performance of tamron lenses-and they have a confusing number of models in that type! From what i've seen there are at least three 70/75-300 models :?
572D 70-300 LD (1:2 macro)
672D 75-300 LD (1:3.9 macro)
+ another that i found once but can't at the moment....

Thanks for posting.
One recommendation for that kind of posting: Please give basical technical info (focal length, aperture, shutter speed, ISO, handheld/tripod), and for a true evaluation of the sharpness you need to post a non-resized, non-processed crop of the center and the corner of the pic.
However, the most important part of (amateur) photography is that you get excited with your results.

70mm focal length, 1/250, F8.0, ISO 100...
If I was a professional, I surely would have an other camera an other lenses. But I am not.
There ist no difference between an amateur an a (so called) professional if it is a good foto. And I do think it's a good one (you should see the other ones I took in Paris, yesterday) :D :D :D
An the main thing for me is the fact, that the lens is a 120 $ - one. For this price it is a really good one. No doubt about it !

Klaus: EXA was not slamming you at all, just suggesting that when sharpness of a lens is to be judged, there are certain ways we determine actual sharpness.
One is by posting a 100% crop of the original photo. The reason is that when we post small versions of our photos on the web, they will naturally appear sharper than the original really is. You can take a photo that isn't too sharp, shrink down to 800x600 and it will then appear much sharper than the original.
However, the fact that you are pleased with this lens and its sharpness is all that matters. It looks pretty sharp to me and with a bit of post processing, would be VERY sharp.
Neat building by the way...
