I just got a new card reader, Lexar 7 in 1, so I could read SD cards for the Mark II. I was shocked at the performance difference in viewing JPEG's off the card in BreezeBrowser. The amount of time it takes to view a JPEG after clicking on a thumbnail is about 1/4 the time it takes on my USB 1 readers including the Lexar JumpShot Cord.

If I can view the files that much faster, they'll transfer to my computer that much faster. That's my point, much faster file transfer.

The max. speed of the USB 1.1 interface is 14 Mbit/s (1.75 MB/s), and the max. speed of USB 2.0 is 480 Mbit/s (60 MB/s). That's more than 30 times faster. There is no CF card that is as fast as USB 2.0, but fast CF cards are certainly faster than USB 1.1.

I used to have Win98 on my last system. It was always hit or miss as to whether a new USB device would work or screw up my other USB devices. As a result I got in the habit of not changing USB devices unless I had to. WinXP is great in this regard but once burned, twice shy.
