All working now. Sorry, but I'm afraid the first two didn't do much for me. I liked the last one though - it really got me thinking.

As with the last poster, I like the 3rd one, its interesting. I would suggest using a larger aperture to blur out the grass in the background.............and you have quite a bit of chromatic aberration in the upper left corner.
But I definitely like the idea of this picture.
Cheers.

Same here. I didn't care for the first two. The third has possibilities.

1) you either sharpend that way too much, or you need to do some serious dusting.
2) I see what you're trying to go with here, the play between the light and the shadow and the idea of something "lurking" in the shadow. The problem is, is that a gas meter is really really boring. If the composition were exactly the same, but instead that was a cat, then you might be onto something.
3) as the others are mentioned, this one shows promise. Normally, a large washtub would be about is interesting as a gas meter. BUT IN THE CONTEXT OF SITTING UNDER THE TREE, this takes on a somewhat different life. Why is it here? How long hasn't been here? What is its purpose? Good eye.

Just pulled the first one out of a box so the sharpening didn't help with all the dust for sure! :D
I agree a gas meter is not a very interesting subject, but I'm learning that I like to photography the usual or uninteresting in an interesting way to look at it differently. Now I obviously have a ways to go but this is the type of photography my eye is drawn to.
I have deleted numerous of photos because I was trying to capture them in a different look and it just didnt' come out like I wanted to. I guess this is what we call practice in the photography world!
I know one thing for sure...thank God for digital because I would be poor from all of the wasted film! :D
