Wow. I really like the second dragonfly. They dragonfly seems like it's entirely in focus while its background is completely blurred. Very well done. I don't care so much for the first photos, however. They're just too scientific for my taste. ;) Although they are interesting. They look like a piece of bark with eyeballs.

Great shots Alex. I love the detail in first 4. :)

The dragons aren't exactly poor either. Very nice.

Alex
Love the first shot, detail is great with the stack. However the background is distractingly bright in Pic 2 and composition feels odd.
I love pics 5 & 6 the most out of the Dragons

So what other lens were you reversed to, or were you direct reversed on to the body? What was the Moth's and Borers lighting set-up?

Excellent mix- lovely detailed closeups to natural light dragons- like them all but love the detail in what I assume is a moth's head.

Thanks Allan... I don't focus stack :) :).. Though Brian has me sooo tempted to give it a go... The moth which is a little under 3mm in length was on a white outside wall, so I am afraid the brightness I was stuck with... The second moth shot was with a 180 macro lens, 1.4x TC reversed 50mm and full extension tube stack for somewhere between 5-6x.. I know some are able to work in composition but rarely at this level of magnification with a bug that fills the frame... This is uncropped..... I am happy to get the detail with these types of shots, and not worry to much about the art side of the game ;).... I'm glad you liked this series.... I appreciate your feedback..... Take care

Wow Alex I seriously thought the first Moth pic was a stack, depth of field is pretty good.
Man I would love to see a pic of that 180mm + 1.4TC and reversed 50, and full Extension tube stack man how long was that set-up?
That has to be close to 2ft long, that must have played havoc with that shoulder of yours :)
yeah I hear you on Composition and distracting / unpleasant backgrounds that is what I have trouble with a lot of times.
Anyway they are good shots, keep them coming.

Thanks again Allan.... Another batch coming up.. I'll post a gear porno shot of the rev 50 set up.. It is a long son of a gun, and weighs around 7 lbs.... No easy task hand holding :).. The shoulder and arm are getting the strength back to hold it steady Yahoo!!! I have been waiting a long time to get back at it.... Take care brother....

My bug beast less TC and two of the tubes... Hand hold all of my shots.... Quick release plate on camera body is to prevent body and lens rashes when resting on surfaces.. May want to sell them some day :D

OMG! What is that! You actually have a zip tie holding some of your parts together. I've never seen anything like that. It's awesome.

The zip tie is a high tech piece of hardware :D... To think I could have bought the adapter rings.... Nah more fun to take a chance bouncing the 50mm on the ground ;) ;) I have upgraded things a bit since this photo was taken... I made a proper adapter and so I am afraid the zip tie has been retired :D There are some interesting rigs in the post your gear sticky as well.... Thanks for the look, laugh, and nice comment :D I appreciate it... Take care
