Being in the film world until just a few months ago, I have tons of traditional darkroom equipment including a dry mount press and am wondering if this can be used to mount prints from a inkjet printer. Will the heat hurt the paper print? If so, how do you mount your inkjet prints?
Any help greatly appreciated.

I don't know anything about printing... at all. I would like to help you out, but I'm clueless :? Hopefully someone with a film background, and this equipment will come along with some insight.

Thank you Chris for the effort, I appreciate it. How do you mount your prints if you were going to mat them for sale. What the dry mount press does is heat a sheet of adhesive between a mounting "board" and the print itself. Appreciate any input you can give as to how you handle this.

I used to dry-mount my B&W prints all the time. I doubt it would work on many inkjet papers; I think the heat would be too high for some compounds in the papers. Watercolor-type papers might work. Most people use spray adhesives meant for artwork/photographs when mounting their injet prints. Sorry I can't be of more help.

Thanks Greg, I'll give the spray adhesive a try. :)

Tim Grey <http://www.timgrey.com/about.htm> mentioned this in his newsletter a while ago. He said that there were absolutely no problems if you mounted it as if it were a color darkroom print.

Like Greg, I've always just used a spray adhesive.

I don't sell prints very often, only if someone asks for them specifically. I don't advertise or anything.

I use a dry mount press & yes you can use it with inkjet prints just cut down the time in the press. We do this in school all the time if you leave it in the heat too long the print can lose it's gloss.

i have a very simple / perhaps amatuerish mounting process
i buy precut archival double matts with backer board from
framing supplies.com
i print on a epson 2200 making the print slightly bigger than the hold in the matt
i get glass from the nearest hobby lobby
i have a wood worker friend that makes me killer rustic frames
(he insists i but quantity 30 so i sell a few)
i put a little scotch tape on the gutter of the print againt the backer
i fit it together and hit the backedges with my flexipoint stapler
add a wire and hooks
not to hard

...

If you mean regular Scotch(TM) type tape, it isn't archival. Magic Tape (TM) is more so, but you should really look around for alternatives if permanence is important.

here are two quick shots of the mounting i have been doing as you requested
pls forgive the photo quality of them i quickly laid them on a poster board on my porch so i would not have to use a flash
i seldom shoot inside and are not set up for that
i would redo these except i am busy getting ready for a trip that will take me thru both these places over the next 5 weeks
i will be in and out with email particularly the last three weeks of july(canadian rockies)

Wow, those are really nice. So you use those cardboard type corners to staple the glass in place? I was a little confused on that part. So do you sell just the frames? Your photos are really nice, dont get me wrong!
