Both of these images seem funny to me. Maybe I'm tired, but they just don't look right...

Anyway, these were taken at a local science center which displays some wildlife that's either injured or for some reason can't survive in the wild. The mountain lions came to the center when a farmer in the western USA shot their mother. When he found that she had little ones he tracked them down to save them. They found themselves at the science center at 8 weeks of age. Some adorable pictures of them as kittens can be found at the bottom of the page here (http://www.nhnature.org/mountain_lion_exhibit.htm).

Some of the other animals there were obviously injured and could not survive in the wild. They live at the center in natural habitats.

One of the two Bobcats. This is the one that would stay still most of the time. The other paced like a madman.

One of the Mountain Lions. I spent 10 minutes begging him to move or even look up. I was up to 2 sirloins and a prime rib when I gave up. Two minutes after I left he got up when 3 young girls came along. When the girls leaned against the glass he jumped up and started licking the glass as if he were trying to lick their palms. Hearing the story is just not the same as getting the picture.

Awesome shots!

My dream is to see a non-captive Cougar in person... hopefully I'll be in the car. In CA, the Cougars here like to eat mountain bikers & joggers.

They look fine to me. Well up to your usual standards.

They're very reclusive & you won't see him if he sees you first!
I did meet one once, Laz! When the Mercury Cougar came out they wanted pics with the car & the cat. His name was Chauncy, & if you scratched his back, he'd sort of gum your arm to show his pleasure! I expected him to have some softness, like a 'normal' cat, but he was rock solid muscle.

(Then there was an elephant named Wanda who thought she could hide in some sumac, but that's another story!)

I like them...don't see anything "funny" about them.

Thanks everyone.

Strange, here I am in work and they *still* look odd to me. Oh, well, I guess I'm just seeing things. It wouldn't be the first time...

They look good to me, too - I'd certainly be more than happy if I'd taken them! The only thing I can think of is that their eyes look a little bit dull for 'big' cats..
