Got one at Walmart for about $15 to $20...they are getting pretty cheap. Better than having your battery run out. So hurry up and go get one as I would like to see some photos;).

I can see the launch from my backyard. Here is probably one of the worse shots you'll see of it :(

If you haven't seen the ISS before, or the space shuttle look here:
http://www.heavens-above.com (http://www.heavens-above.com/)
The space station is typically really bright on its own, add the shuttle and it gets a little brighter. It is actually brighter than it looks in my pic.

I am going to have to remember to look for the shuttle and ISS on the 19th as that is the next time that they pass overhead here in the evening. Hopefully the shuttle will be up there still.

It should be. They're scheduled for two weeks on this trip.

vr6pwns_me,
Very nice pictures. Brings back a lot of memories when I worked there. We used to do experiments on people, was fun to watch. Wonderful people there and a fantastic experience.

Well, first I was involved with the recovery of the shuttle that went down.
Then a year later I had a full time position at NASA working with Dr's and the effect of space and atmospheric re-entry on the body. We would measure the amount of blood going thru the heart and the carotid arteries. Some people would be in a special box from the waist down and at different intervals blood would be sucked down to their lower extremities until they would pass out.
We would then have a very large and long giant EKG and I would take readings off of it to see on average, how much tolerance someone could take before passing out during re-entry. They would then have the astronauts consume large amounts of liquid to off set the problem.
Other times they would take muscle biopsies from patients on a regular basis while they were in a strict workout routine to see how effective weightless workouts were.
Lots of other happenings that I can't get into. But I met some unbelievable people. They were some of the smartest people in the world.
Good Day

It was well after the launch when it was playing catch up before docking, I am no authority but my father is into it and kept callig to tell me the times it was passing overhead..lol
Apparently the ISS was travelling somewhere in the region of 17,500 mph and the shuttle was in low earth orbit at approx 22,500 mph getting itself onto the same orbit.
The ISS passed up and the shuttle about 2 mins later, obvioulsy from the ground they look like aircraft without any strobes but it was kinda cool to see.

My pic was taken with my nifty 50, 15 sec exposure, ISO 400, F 1.8. Don't own any form of remote shutter release at the moment so done manually.
