D60 to 10D

Well yesterday I decided to go for got a 2nd hand 10D with a grip.
found it on ebay ...

Looks better than D60 :)
One of the big difference between D60 and 10D is the shutter release lag and the reduced viewfinder blackout :P It looks more responsive and I'm not talking about the low light focusing...

Hope this one will stay mine till the end :roll:

When you hold in hand a D60 and then a 10D, you can really feel the difference. It really feels more robust.
They have also changed the shutter button position. It is situated a little bit more on the right side (a few millimeters) but it isn't annoying.
the LCD image quality is also better with 5 levels of brightness.
AF is faster but I think they can improve it even more...

On the other hand, I've made a 9 RAW shots burst and it seemed to be slower than the D60 to write onto the microdrive. :?: just an impression :?:

That's all I can say for the first day ... :wink:

Are the 10D files not larger than the D60 files? Isn't the D60 something like a 3.5 mp camera?

I would assume that 6mp images take longer to write, especially RAW's.

No. The D60 has a sensor that is very similar to the 10D, 6.3 megapixels.

One difference is that the D60's RAW file is RAW only. The 10D has a RAW file with a JPEG in it.

No, my poor old D30 is a 3.2Mp camera but they are so old now that people barely remember them. We prehistoric types used to use them in the dim and distant past when most people still used that flappy celluloid stuff and most subjects were black and white. Mine is still just about able to take something that is recognisable as an image on a good day, but its touch and go sometimes.

The D60 does write to the card faster than the 10D. But the 10D is much nicer in many other areas than the D60.

and for all those who like to brag about a camera function.....

The D30/D60/10D blow the Mark II away if you need to take a covert shot and not scare the be-jesus out of something with shutter noise!!!

I'm sorry Mark, but I don't agree with you :(
The D30 is still a really good camera even if there are newer models...
OK af is better on newer models resoluion also or ...
But if you wanna make 10x15cm(4X6 in) prints this camera is still a good bargain.
All you need is good glass.

This remembers me the time when I got my fost computer: a Commodore 64. I've sold it to get my first PC :)
But sometimes, I miss it even if I've got a 3Ghz PC :?

Well what I mean is that when for the same exposition (same shutter speed/same aperture) the camera seems to go faster to make the picture even if it's stil 3FPS.
What I mean by "reduced viewfinder blackout" is when the camera exposes the cmos, you don't see anything in the viewfinder. So it's black. And the time it's black, IMO is shorter than the time it takes for the same operation with the D60.
