Colour for me - those greens are so nice, there's no need to hide them!

I also like the color. The B&W seems to lose some sense of depth, too.

Colour all the way.

I agree with Scottes, the B&W does lose some sense of depth. I like color!

The black and white shows off the stumps and hanging moss/lichen better than the first exposure. Also the water ripples in the black and white are more choppy. I think that works better.

The greens and browns in the first image are not required. Loose them in favour of the black and white. But I think the black and white still needs a bit of help from the curves tool.

My intention was to convert to B&W but when I printed the color it really hit me. Here are two more from the same area.

I think if you're going to stay with color, it might serve your photo to pump the colors up....right now everything is somewhat dulled by the same tones happening. I don't know what editing tools you have at your disposal, but in PS you might try selective color and work the greens and browns.

Lovely pic's,, I prefer the color also. I use E2 and I would try layer styles/color burn, then you may need to brighten a tid.. :?

Definitely like color better.
Were these taken in Louisianna or somehwere on the Mississipp?
I just visited Rosedown plantation in St. Francisville last week and took about a hundred pictures like these.

Great job.

As they stand I prefer the colour one. Stop bath has a good point but I still think the bw looks too flat. Perhaps try playing with the contrast?

Thanks again for all the interest. These were taken on the Peace River in the middle of Florida with a 1ds, 16-35 f/2.8 l.

JZaun, could you elaborate a little on your post. What is E2? I use Capture1 raw conversion and photoshop 6. I did put the contrast to these pics but didnt play with color much. Can you explain exactly what you would do and I will try it!.

For the subject matter, I would consider trying a sepia instead of B&W, but my vote is for color. Both pictures are beautiful. Very serene.
