I have a close friend (and my boss) who today expressed an interest in giving her Kodak P&S to her son and buying my 300D from me. I would then spring for a 10D if I could find one reasonably priced. Any comments/suggestions before I get back to her?

what would be a fair price for:
6 month old 300D with kit lens (about 3000 shots)
Optex SLR form fit bag
128MB CF Card
1 battery/charger
original cables & software
strap

Also, is there anyone who had regretted a move to the 10D from the 300D? What I'd mainly be interested in is the buffer.

thanks,
daniel

The 10D body is down to $1299 at B&H. It might get a little cheaper as it gets closer to being replaced, but it will get scarce as well.

Have Fun,

Thats what I did. Sold the 300D to my cousin for 600 bucks, and bought the 10D.

I like the 10D alot more, it is very much the camera I wanted and expected.

I'd do it. If your considering doing it, its worth the money.

The kit new is going for about $900. I wouldn't count much for a 128Mb card.....they're only, what, $50? I'd say a fair price would be in the $600-700 range for your kit. Don't forget to include that it has 6 months of warranty left....

Go for the 10d. You'll be glad you did!

Wise choice, get into 10D as soon as you can.

The 300D is a fine camera but if anyone is serious about photography they will out grow it. I just traded my D Rebel for a D60 and battery grip. Some may feel that it was a step back as it is older technolgy, but I like the feel and more important, the control better. This camera does what I want it to do when I want it to. I would do it, you won't be dissapointed...Dean

Ahh....decisions. I have to admit that I have loved my 300D and can't complain one bit about it for what I paid. But...I would like the 10D buffer and the AI servo for wakeboarding shots.

Ok, suggestions on places to buy a 10D to replace the 300D? I've checked out several places online and have been very discouraged so far.

thanks,
daniel

I have found that Ebay seems pretty good, to buy a new 10d, but I haven't bought one just yet; waiting for this next paycheck. There are some sellers on there that has thousands of high ratings, so that makes me think they are reliable. Do a search there. I also went to RoyalCamera.com and they had super deals B-U-T then went to eopinions.com and found out they don't have a good rating for selling good things. So imho if its a store online look on eopinions to see if they have a review or what not. Let me know what you do. In a similar boat with ya.

Chad.

Ones I've checked out and have felt uncomfortable with:

Royal, expresscameras, cameras source, 5-star electronics, and buydig.com. Actually buydig.com seemed ok, but they wouldn't ship my camera until "sometime next week."

I've just in the last couple of days decided to sell my 300D & go with the 10D. I ordered it on Monday from B&H for $1,299.95 & it should be here Thurs/Fri. I also ordered the battery grip to go with it. CAN'T WAIT!!! :D

Anyone know off-hand if my RC-5 remote will work on the 10D as well or should I sell that with the 300D too?

The remote does not work with the 10D.

I went ahead and got the timer remote for my 10D, it's ultra cool.

Ok, I did it. I ordered a 10D from buydigitaldirect.com for $1183 plus $40 for next day air. I was a little hesitant, but they have a full USA MFG. warranty and were excellent to me on the phone. They did send me an email requesting that I call them for verification and I thought, "here we go." Even though he offered me 3 assessory deals, once I said no thanks, he didn't push one little bit. Then he said, is it ok if I get this camera to you by Friday (it is now wed. night)....I said, well I think that would be fine. Then, 30 minutes later, I get an email saying that it has already been shipped via FedEx, with a tracking #. With a little luck it might even be here tomorrow! So far I have to say I'm very impressed with buydigitaldirect.com. Hopefully, I will be as impressed once my new 10D gets here!

So, I'll sell my 300D to my boss (or another co-worker) unless someone here wants to make me an offer before then. Its also listed on ebay:

As you should be...They get very mixed ratings. Have you checked your tracking number and verified the package is indeed on the way??

Correct, the 10D. I figure it will be relatively short order before you decide to jump up to a 1S or the MKII.

ha... why do you figure that I will be with the 10D so short a time?

Yes, I have checked the FedEx tracking # and the package is indeed on the way and is estimated to arrive tomorrow by 3:00 pm. Thats pretty impressive. Most of the reviews I read on buydigitaldirect.com were good. Of course there were a few very negative ones. I have a close friend who also bought a camera from them. He was also quite satisfied. I'll let you know if I'm still as impressed when the camera arrives tomorrow! Are there any specific problems that the 10D is known for that I should be sure and check out straight away?

thanks,
daniel

Well, it looks as though the shipping is legit. The package is now the next town south, 20 minutes away and its only 8am. Should be at home when I get there at noon!

I am anxious (probably not as much as you are ;) but want to know how their service and product turned out to be. I may go the same route. Thanks.

Well the 10D arrived at 12noon.....I ordered it at 4pm yesterday. Very impressive! I also just sold my Rebel to a co-worker. She offered me $700 on the spot, so I took it. Then I came home and my 10D was here waiting for me. Perfect! So far everything seems to check out. It came with all the right assessories, the USA Warranty Card, the body # matches the Warranty card and I've take a couple of shots of flowers out front and they seem to be good. Anything else I should check for?

thanks,
daniel
