There is a personal function that allows the user to reduce the lag between the shutter release being pressed and the shutter being released. The default setting is a longer delay (55ms, as opposed to 40ms), and this delay matches that of the original Mark I.

Aside from maintaining the timing of a shooter that is accustomed to the delay time of the older model, is there any advantage to not changing to the shorter delay? Thanks.

Yes there is a PF to shorten (in some cases) the shutter response from the standard 55ms, which is outstanding. The disadvantage is that it will not be consistent. It varies under certain conditions and I do not know what those conditions are. The disadvantage is without a consistent response, the photographer's shooting methods may end up being inconsistent.

There's a thread over on Galbraith's where Chuck Westfall addresses the issue.

Thanks, Jim. I'm glad that I read your post before I made the change. I definitely prefer consistency. I can't even count to 55ms anyway. :D

Heck, it's worth a try sometime just to see if you can tell the difference. This camera has so many freaking settings, it's going to take awhile to see what some of them do. Actually, I'm pretty content letting others experiment and I'll read about it later!
