so i finally want to look at the software offered by the camera. i tried both of them on my PC--and i just can't seem to read them. i check the read-side of the CDs and they seem to have not been "written" on.

anyone else have this (freaky) problem??? should i notify the shop i got them from, or canon???

TIA

Be sure to try them on another PC... but I think al the software can be downloaded...

Hrm.... I'll see if I can dig up the links...

If the link works;

http://consumer.usa.canon.com/ir/controller?act=DownloadDetailAct&fcategoryid=314&m odelid=9430

Otherwise go to

www.canonusa.com

and select downloads... then pick the appropriate camera from the menus.

update:

the CD does work in another PC, however not in mine--i guess it might be the dvdrw (LDW-451s). i'll prolly just backup the CDs and get the PC-proggies into one CDR at work. hopefully, that should do the trick.

If that is the case, then I would be concerned about your DVD RW. It sounds like it might be out of alignment. This is not a problem where you burn and read a CD/DVD on your system via this drive, but might mean that any backup disks that you burn might be unreadable on other drives or systems. This is not a good thing.

If it were my system, I would either have it checked or consider replacing the drive if it happens with disks not burned by this drive.

its weird, cause i tried other CD/CDRWs/CDRs (ie audio cd; hybrid pc/mac cd from digital arts mag; a backup mp3-CDR; a backup data-CDRW) and all work accordingly (as well as DVD, DVD-video, DVD+/-R/RW...)

so yah, and its a pretty brand new LiteOn LDW-451s w/ the latest firmware.

Sometimes, albeit rarely, you can get a drive that is writing a CD/DVD that will be, within specs for alignment, but at the edge - say left, and another drive, also within specs for alignment, but at the edge - right; the combination being such that one cannot read what the other writes, where another drive aligned more toward the center can read and write to and from both.
