Hey all,
Just thought I share a story...
Over the weekend, I was at the local zoo with the family. Of course I brought my camera and had a 70-200mm 2.8 mounted on it. It was only a matter of time before someone would try to start a conversation with me about the camera.
So, I'm taking pictures of my kids on the merry-go-round, working on my panning skills. This guy walks fifty feet out of his way to stand next to me. "Not trying to be suttle, are you?" He says. "Nope." I reply. Then he starts the digital talk, not knowing that my camera is actually a DSLR. Then he says, "Yeah, I'm never happy with my camera purchases. I buy one then I'm not satified or they come out with a better one."
Now the punch line.... He's using a Kodak disposable film camera. After he got the hint that I was a bit busy shooting. He proceeds to step closer to the merry-go-round and kneels down on one knee and fires away with his camera, a total pro move.
What's my point? He embodies the person who in their quest to get the latest and greatest camera, misses great photo opportunities and experinences. A disposable camera? Not satified with his choices? Any digicam or point and shoot film camerawould have been better. I'm sure his kid will love the action shot on the merry-go-round he captured.
Thanks for listening...
John
