Hi all, I've got a wedding to shoot in November so it's probably going to be mostly indoor shots as the weather here in the Uk is usually wet that time of year.

The bride is a friend of a friend and she's lovely, but big.

I want her to look spectacular on these photo's so I'd like to ask the experts which poses they would find most attractive for the larger lady and if there are any tricks of the trade I've not picked up yet to make her look her best.

Thanks in advance.

hmmm .....

I've read that having the arms straight down at the sides is sorta the general rule.

Buy a ladder and budget some time with the liquefy tool.

Shoot from above, she MUST smile a lot and when you can, minimize the angle of attack all the while thinking where you will be pinching her body. This means bokeh, simple backgrounds that won't show warp. Layer masks with liquefy aren't fun for 100 bridal shots...get that background bendable.

Thanks for the advice but i'm a little concerned about what she may think when she see's a picture of herself which has obviously processed to 'slim her'.
Would she be flattered, or will she flatten me:lol:

As a bigger girl, I wouldn't mind necessarily, just don't overdo it. Unless she's asked for slimming / retouching, just use it for mild touch-ups. Make bumps a little smoother, a little less obvious, but don't make people question how she looks X pounds different in the pictures.

You know your client though. If you have the impression she'd be upset with alterations, don't.

wow you would actually go right in and slim her down? I would only do that if she requests it. I almost see that like increasing someone's bra size from a B to a D... it just seems... well... like a touchy subject

No, you do enough to compliment her. If she can notice it you've done too much. If she thinks it's the best picture of her ever taken you've done your job.

Remember I shot people in bikinis on vacation for 6 months. I've done more plastic surgery than the most successful surgeon in LA.

You could actually increase my cup size to a D? :D:D:D

All kidding aside, I understand where Cosworth is coming from. It's the same thing as having slim, beautiful women in one's portfolio. Beauty sells. And while that may be unfortunate, it's true.
