And there's two words that describe its performance:
Sharp and Bokeh.
It is everything that I had expected and maybe a little more. I'll be taking some indoor low-light shots with it tonight, but just experimenting around the house has proven this to be a winner.

Sharp and Bokeh.
Sounds like a law firm.
I love the 85 f1.8. It gives me great results, especially in low light. I think you will be pleased.
Have Fun,

How much did it cost?
I have one available for 130 CAD or 100 USD brand new. Is it an ok price?

For the 85 mm f/1.8? I wouldn't hesitate to buy it at that price, unless it is obviously broken.
If you're talking about the 50/1.8, you can do a little better, I think.

Great performance, and it's built very solid.
It says "quality" in every way!
I hope you got the lens hood!

Congradulations, from what I've read on the Web it's one great lens. Any samples ?

OK, here's a couple.
The first one was at f/2.8, 1/180 second, ISO 800. I shot it through a window screen, due to the fact that the squirrel and bird are a little camera-shy.

The second one was at f/2.0, 1/80 second, ISO 800. Focus point was the left eye.

Its not my best work, but it does show that the lens is very capable at wide apertures.

That second picture really shows how shallow the DOF is at F2.0.
Your AF is definately working perfectly.

I missed the 135mm-on-film look so much i had to try the 85/1.8 on my new 300D.
Luckily i had a 2nd hand one for a little while before i had to sell it.It was indeed nice.Very VERY nice :D :D
So far it is the only lens of the many i've had that my brother commented on favorably. He usually doesn't notice one little bit the subtleties/sharpness of any lens.It might have helped that he was doing big B&W portrait blow ups
