First Post -- bridal portraits -- C&C please

I'm new to wedding photography and I got asked to photograph a cousin's wedding. Here are some of his bride to be. This was the first time I've ever done bridal portraits, so any comments or suggestions on improvement would be appreciated.

For a start, they are pretty good. Very traditional poses. Did you bounce the flash? They look more like direct, so a bit harsh on lighting. Possibly the first would be even bettr with a tad more contrast. Keep it up though, we all start from somewhere. :)

They look generally quite nice to me.

On the b&w ones I would consider adding a vignette to draw your eye into it though and the skin could do with softening in the colour one on the second post, but I do like the composition. She also has a little bit too much flash.

Actually I did add some softening to the last one, but decided it was too much and lowered it back down some.

As for the flash, I didn't bounce it. I'll have to remember to try that next time.

Nice composition. #2 and 4 seem to have some hotspots that may help make the picture look a bit softer once fixed.

They look nice. I'd suggest watch it on the direct flash, it's very evident in a couple of the shots. Also, what method for B&W conversion was you using? Looks like you're just desaturating it, am I right?

1) seems crooked to me which turns me off.
2) harsh shadows from direct flash.
3, 4) they are nice.

definately bounce flash for the future.

I think you need to learn how to light people. There are some booked linked from a thread in my sig that might help. First image is nice, the others are ok.

Good job for your first!
#1 - Bride seemed to be overpowered by the church.
#2 - Direct flash...harsh shadow
#3 - Ask bcap to PP the B&W for you...he is good!
#4 - Direct flash...bright flowers forehead
