It goes without saying that I am really lacking in skill when it comes to action photography. I have tried and tried but just can't get anything that I am satisfied with. Today my son and his friends were swing off ropes into the creek and this was the result of my captures.
ISO 160 F4 - 1/640 sec - Partial metering. I was using 85 mm 1.8 which isn't probably my best bet but it's what I had on.
Can anyone give me an idea of what to do for improvement.
Thanks !

What is the problem as you see it? I see nothing wrong with the photo you posted. The 85 f/1.8 is quite capable of action photography. If you could improve this photo, what would you do?

Fill flash.

I'll agree with Mum that when your subject is in shade with a bright, sunny background the flash will help. What is it you are dissatisfied with? The shot is clear, in focus. Not bad at all.

Thanks all, yeah..I guess the fact that the subject, my son, is rather dark. I will try fill-flash next time :D
