Brass Shim and Focus screen help?

Well,

I thought the focus screen on the D30 would be above a hinged bracket like on all the high end cameras I've owned....NOT! Can anyone tell me whether the brass shim goes above the focus screen inside the prism, or below it next to the retaining clip. Also what is the correct orientation of same.

Obviously I let it fall out, yeah I'm stupid

good question. I took mine out too. I want to buy a Bettie brightscreen and tool it down to the size of a D-30 screen. I cant stand the screen in there now. I put a Bettie screen on my 1D and love it . what a difference. Good luck.
