Lot of 'combat' going on here in the last few days too. They must be migrating South already, coming through here on their way. :)

Really cool shot. The feet are incredible. Although it is a hummingbird, it really looks like it is beginning a dive to snag a mouse. Cool shot!!

Ruby throated hummingbird.
I have put in my request. Tough to talk to them though as they zip by at a million miles per hour!:)

Thanks Najo:)
It's hard to get even one decent one as I'm trying to fill the frame as much as possible and tracking them is impossible. (at least for this human!)

We must be getting a few from farther north. They won't leave here until October.

Actually, hummingbirds here are predatory but they don't feed on mice. They swarm deer in large numbers like piranha.:):)

Great timing- that has to put the panning technique to the ultimate test.

Nice shots, these little guys are sure a lot of fun. I have two feeders right in front of my office window and watch their antics all day. Today there was a small lizard on the patio and two hummers were about a foot over his head taking a look.
Wish work didn't get in the way of taking pictures.;)
