I've been going through images getting them ready for the website (don't hold your breath) and I finally got around to the GCPS images. I picked out my favorite wolves to post.

Then I cut that list of 241 images down to 6 and here they are...

They still look good Scott. I never realized that you liked wolves so much

Great images. I think I like the last one the best.

Nice shots, Scott. Hope you have enough walls in your home to hang all these pictures on. :D

It's good that you were able to find time to work on more of your GCPS pictures. I still have a couple to go through myself in addition to those that I've taken since then but haven't had the time to work on. Saying I've been kind of busy is an understatement! :?

That second picture is beautiful. I live the pose of the wolf and the graduating light-dark green diagonally through the picture with the exception of the wolf who's correctly exposed (I'm not making much sense, am I?) :?

Anyway, good captures.
What took you so long to post 'em ? :P

Those are some wonderful shots of a beautiful animal. I like the fifth one alot. It looks as though the wolf is smiling for you. Or maybe at the fact that the rest of the pack is sneaking up behind you, welcoming you for, I mean to, dinner. :)

Great shots - personally I like #2 the best.

Dumb question - what is GCPS?

Ssim: What gave me away?

PacAce: I've been spending almost all my free time going through my images, getting together all the ones worthy of printing and posting to a website (which I'll create Real Soon Now). I finally got to the GCPS ones, which finished all my wildlife pictures. I think.

cmM: LOL - I've been looking at that image wondering why I liked it so much - well, more so than any other picture of a wolf. I know that I liked the look of evil in his eye, but I think that you nailed it with the green. As to why it took so long, see above...

where1: Thanks. But I think he was looking at IanD at the time.. :)

dewmuw: Thanks. GCPS was the Great Canadian Photo Shoot from early June. PacAce and I went up to Montreal to meet IanD and SSim and we haunted some wildlife places for a few days. It was a great time. I think I shot something like 1200 pics - 460 of those were of wolves... :)

Scott, Out of the bunch my picks are #1, 2, 3, 4, 5, & 6. Not too sure about the rest. These are some very good shots. I wouldn't begin to know how to get close enough for shots like these. BTW,which lens did you use?

Thanks Bruce. You should see the other 235 wolf pictures I have. :)

I kinda took this for granted.. But these are from a couple of wildlife places so all of these are behind fences. I was close, but not *too* close!

The lens was the venerable 100-400 L IS.

Fuzzy Doggies!

Yeah? Go pet one, and tell me how fuzzy they are.

I hear that they'll let you get close if you dip your hands in meat drippings.

:) :) :)

Boys and girls, Scottes is only kidding! Do *not* try to pet wolves, or wolfies, or even fuzzy doggies if you don't know them. Definitely do not dip your hand in meat drippings! Now please go clean up your room. --- This message was brought to you by the letter "W"

At a pinch then, I'm guessing that if I were close enough to frame the Wolf like you did with photo #3 with my 70-200, I would be a bit TOO close?

That was at a full 400mm, so I'm guessing he was fairly close. The EXIF says that the "Subject Distance" was "2030" - if that's millimeters than I was less than 7 feet away. I doubt that. I don't remember taking this particular frame, but I remember the area, and I'd say that 15 or 20 feet would be more like it.

So at 200mm you'd be well within leaping distance...
