I need some motivation to start taking pictures again. I work around 51 hours a week and find myself just wanting to chill out when I get home. The weather is rubbish at the moment too. But the last time I used my Camera properly was about 4 weeks ago when I did some Graduation Photos. Before that, it was weeks again.

I dont want it to go to waste. Maybe I could finally get the 430ex and try and get myself a Model Shoot with someone living close by.

But in the meantime, what can I do? :(

I have taken my small bag, packed a body and a lens and headed out to the forest preserve for lunch. Got some nice cicada pics like that. Or just head out anywhere for lunch hour and get your creative juices flowing again.

Maybe just forget about it for awhile. When I need to be inspired again, I usually just stop taking pictures until I get the urge again. Otherwise, I just get frustrated with my images.

Give yourself a challenge. Try taking an interesting photo in the most rubbish weather or maybe what may seem boring to many, see if you can turn it into something amazing.

I like the model idea and maybe some fresh air could help blow away the cobwebs?

I think I see your problem... You're drinking the wrong beer! All the fine ales, stouts and porters you guys brew in the UK and you're drinking Budweiser?  :D

Seriously, you might try a type of photography different from what you usually shoot. If you shoot landscapes, try going to the zoo instead or maybe shoot some macro. Take an ordinary object in your house and see if you can make it look totally abstract and unrecognizable.

A little like you I get the photographic equivalent of writers block. I still have no idea of how to actively overcome it.

However, I see you are in Wales ~ well there is one place I have on my list of places to visit, this is Gigrin Farm in Rhyader. This is the location where they feed and attract the local Red Kite population. Also for motorsport there is 'Lambs' er? something. It has been mentioned on the Motorsport forum.

In other words if you can get out locally and take pictures outside the subject areas you are used to to challenge yourself.

HTH :)

Haha, havent drank that in months now! Havent got around to even getting a new avatar.

Thanks for the ideas though all. The house idea seems most appropriate at the moment. I work for a building firm as a Labourer. Dont fancy taking my camera there!

I can definitely relate.
I find it especially difficult if I go a long time without taking a trip.

Usually I go to a zoo or flower garden to keep me "inspired".

I also have my 3 cats. I try to challenge myself to capture something different, even if it's just my cats.

Macro can at times be a great "filler" in-between inspiring locations.

I don't do much "lunch-time" shooting. Part of it is that I am shy and don't want to walk in Manhattan snapping away.
