Also to add: There had been talk that this update is massive and takes 7-8 minutes to download to the camera.

Rubbish!

Mine took less than two minutes to update.

Now to read all the funny stories of all the amazing things this firmware does.

I just installed it on my 300D.
Now I can take 8.5fps and my camera is slowly starting to darken...

Jim what's your setup?

Jon Borcik

I believe Jim is using the SI (SPorts illustrated) 1DmkII presets. I don't have the website handy, but I downloaded the preset also and use it for my Sports shots. :)

try looking here:

Not true. The recommended SI settings are RAW & Large JPEG.

Those were all shot JPEG.

I'm also not having any problems with reds in JPEG's. I think it's an issue related to proper exposure. The pictures I've seen posted thus far of problematic reds have been overexposed or the picture was not put through levels and the middle grey adjusted.

I agree Scott. Also, I've noticed that with just about any camera, that if you over expose the shots, ALL the colors are off. It's amazing to me that these so-called pros cannot figure that out. These pros shooting F1 and complaining they can't shoot the Ferraris and get the colors right.

Amazing.

If you look at my recent ChampCar shots there is particularly one shot that's pretty hot (over exposed) and the colors of the car are washed. If that had been a red car, the same thing would happen. And when you wash out red, it goes to the orange and then pinkish stages.

I did stay at a Holiday Inn Express...

Anyway Scott, at least you and I have this red thing figured out...

Greta shots Jim. You'd probably take great shots with a pin hole camera. Have a good 4th.

HAH! Yeah well you too. We should try that hole in the lens cover trick on the MKII and see how they turn out. ;) Have a safe 4th!
