I'm getting a bit nervous. I am to shoot with our local guy tomorrow for the first time at my first wedding. In our initial discussions there is no pressure on me to actually produce anything, so that's nice. But since I really WANT to get some nice shots, it doesn't really take the pressure I'm putting on myself off.

So I finally get in touch with the photographer yesterday and he's like "well, meet me at 9am Thursday and we'll go through stuff". OK. Me: "when & where is the ceremony?" Him: "I think we'll start around 3:30pm. It's in town then we'll go around to do some photos" Me: "Oh, so the wedding is inside?" Him: "No, everything's outside." Me: "where are they having it in town." Him: "well, I'm talking with her later today so I'll fill you in on Thursday."

I really wanted to head to the locations as much as possible before the wedding day  I've been practicing in the light I expect to have and at some of the locations I think might be hit, but who knows. I'm trying to get in touch with him today again, but so far no luck. I'm sensing that I'm not going to get a lot of direction from him!

We'll see - cross your fingers for me...I'm very excited to take this step!

Sounds like he's not to easy to communicate with. Good thing you're not under a lot of pressure from him. Not much you can do for prep without knowing where you're going to be. I would say, try and relax and take the opportunities as they come.

Good luck!

I feel for you! I like to have proper preparation for a wedding as well. Like Kathy said, just roll with the punches. Good luck!

Just take it as a learning experience ... I sometimes found when second shooting that I only got good information on the couple, venues, etc. on the day ... not because anyone was rude or disorganised, but just because second shooters aren't always privy to all the information. Of course, if the guy you're shooting with really IS disorganised, learn from that too ;-)

It's perfectly normal to feel nervous or to get 'butterflies'...so don't worry about that. Just do your best to suck it up and be confident (on the outside, at least) when the time comes. There is probably a good reason when you are in this position, so just trust for instincts and go with what you know.

Good Luck.
