Hello All and thank you for your time! These are a few shots from my first wedding. I was second shooter/assistant for a really great and nice photographer. Could you please give me C and C? I'm just learning photoshop and I'm wondering if my color corrections etc. look ok. Obviously, I decided to play around a stylize a few of the shots, but suggestions for editing would be awesome. Any favorite filters or techniques for weddings? I'm in the process of trying to learn Aperture, but it's so dang slow! I didn't shoot as much as I thought I would because it all happened so fast, my flash died, and I think was a little under prepared. I figured it'd be easy --- wrong!

Thanks so much!

1. On this one the colors aren't like the original. I had problems with it uploading so I attached it to my post and it's correct. Hope you'll look at the real version attached. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v709/lacoeur2/web4.jpg

3. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v709/lacoeur2/web2.jpg

4. This one I totally botched exposure wise, so I decided to blur it out and see if it was worth anything. Interesting and feminine or trash?

5. When they left the church everyone shot water guns at them instead of throwing rice. It was pretty darn cute.

Thanks, everyone!

I really like 1! These are great esp. for your first! Congratulations! Did you not have enough batteries for the flash?

Also, this is weird, but that first picture of the bride is way more desaturated and washed out than it should be. I uploaded everything to photobucket, but for some reason that one photo isn't uploading properly. I tried it twice. It uploads differently than how the real file works. What's that about? Wish you could see the real edit. It pops so much more.

It did that when I tried to upload it to myspace too. What's wrong? Is the file not being read

The flash kept losing the connection! I had to ram it onto the hotshoe. It's just a vivitar so I'm thinking maybe it's just seen it's last days. I'm about to buy a 580. I really know little about flash. Time to learn I guess. Thanks for the comments!

try uploading it to here by going advanced and then adding your attachment. All the rest are the same looking colors? That's weird.

The 580 is the way to go! It's high sync feature is awesome. It's so important to have a good reliable flash. I have two and I almost think I need another one for backup. I have never had any problems but it's scary to think that I could and I'd be stuck. My on camera flash on my 20D doens't work any more and the 5D doesn't have one :( So I can't rely on that for a backup. What camera were you using?

I think you did a pretty nice job for just starting out in wedding photography. :-) Welcome to the forum and take everything for what it's worth. Develop a tough skin and you'll do just fine here. :-)

Here's another one. See, I guess I just don't know what's better - unnatural stylized filters or just the plain thing. It's a tough call. Do you guys discuss this with your clients before hand?

Personally, I don't like this one. The brightness on the right really distracts me. But, that's just me. Other than that, I think it was nice.

A 5d. Just got it and am very excited trying to figure it all out. It's so hard because the images look overexposed in the view window on the back so I stop down and then on the computer they are underexposed. It plays tricks on my mind!

I think I must just not have had it on properly or something, it just didn't seem to be connecting.

Hmm, is this common that the viewfinder overexposes pics on the 5D? Eventually, I am gonna get one and this would be nice to know! LOL.

Maybe you just need to decrease the screen brightness a little? I know it seems very basic, but on my screen when the brightness is way up, it loses some contrast too and looks kinda overexposed. best bet is to set it to display with info and check the histogram I would think!

Oh, and I intended to also post that I really like the series of candids at the end, and the one that you posted later. I like the first version of that last one.

I wouldn't want to decrease or increase the brightness on the lcd to anything than what it's set for (which is in the middle) That's just me though. Make sure it's in the middle. Following the histogram is such an important tool! My experience is that most of the time the camera will slightly underexpose in p mode so I usually have to set it a stop up to get the exposure right on.

This is genius! I'm pretty sure my screen brightness is on the highest selection. Didn't even think about that. D'oh!

Do you have any good resources on how to read a histogram, like a website? I really have no idea what it means.

I love your site by the way. Your photos, especially the ones with sunsets are incredible!!

These are very nice images - especially for a first shoot. You have an eye for a picture, keep posting and good luck in your new career

Thanks for the compliment!!!
I just did a quick search on "histogram" on this forum and found this thread that looks pretty good: http://photography-on-the.net/forum/showthread.php?t=333293&highlight=histogram

I like the first website that was recommenced. I don't understand histograms all that well but I know the basics which has helped me tremendously. You can always tell that a photo is underexposed if the black mountain looking thingy (lack of better words) ends too far to the left. Check out the sites and it will give you better info than what I am saying. Anyone else want to jump in here?
