for 300D ?? because it cost $90 on B&H and if add the warranty I wont be able to get the 550EX Speedlite flash (over my CC limit)

also are there any screen protector (similar to those they used on PDA) I can place on 300D's LCD so it wont get scratch?

I use a PDA protector. Just cut it to size. But I have to pull it off when shooting in the sun, or I can't see the LCD.

screen protectors are worthless because you can buy the plastic cover which goes over the lcd for very little money from canon.

try doing a search about mack service plans because it has been talked about many times here.

Extended warranties can be big money savers or a waste of money. I usually only get one if the cost of the item is very large compared to the cost of the warranty. If your camera croaks after the Canon Warranty is out, would you buy a new camera? If so, forget about the warranty. I bought a Mack Warranty for my Mark II. 4500 for the camera vs 135 for the warranty.

According to Conumer Report extended warrantees are not advisable. Personally, I never buy them and I cannot think of one instance where I wish I had. With that said get the 550. . . . oh and by the way you're going to love the 17-40. Screen protectors? You want a couple? E-mail me an address and I'll put a couple in the mail.

I've been wondering about that ever since I noticed how easy it is to remove the plastic LCD cover. But I have not been able to figure out how to buy one. Replacing that cover occasionally would sure be better than trying to protect it. How do we go about getting one from Canon?
