Hello,

I'm interested in finding a good book for photoshop CS3. I have passable skills in CS2, so I am not really looking for a "never touched PS" type of book.

I saw in the photoshop links thread that this book was recommended:
"The Adobe Photoshop CS Book for Digital Photographers" by Scott Kelby
http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg...e&s=books&st=* (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/0735714118/ref=pd_bxgy_text_1/102-8012402-2372161?v=glance&s=books&st=*)
$25 at Amazon.com

Checking it on amazon, it looked pretty good, but I have no idea how much has changed from CS to CS3, and therefor how much will apply.

Any info is much appreciated!

The new Adobe Photoshop CS3 book for Photographers from Scott Kelby will show you all the great new features of cs3. I just picked it up at B&N this past weekend, not to bad. it does have a lot of info form the cs2 book but does add soem new cs3 stuff and updated tutorials from evolution.

I have Martin Evening's book. It is a lot more exhaustive than Kelby's (I had the CS version) which is also very good - and quick to the point.

It's also rated #1 on amazon (for all computer books no less!)

Think I'll pick it up. Thanks for the help!

I have found that I can find the new features of CS3 from CS2 in the help menu of CS3 and since I know my way around PS, I can figure out the usability of each new feature. Sounds like you don't need a book really, but just to get a hold of the new features listing.

FYI - I have Scott's CS2 book and if you don't have one, I suggest you get one to keep around for he goes over several techniques you can turn into actions that really will step up your presentation and photo retouching techniques.

If you are familiar with CS2 already, CS3: Up To Speed (http://www.amazon.com/Adobe-Photoshop-CS3-Up-Speed/dp/0321514297/ref=pd_bbs_sr_1/002-1153315-5263205?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1187223812&sr=8-1) by Ben Wilmore is quite good. It's also quite thin, which is nice if you want to spend more time working on photos than reading about working on photos.

I'm also impressed with Photoshop CS3 for Nature Photographers (http://www.amazon.com/Photoshop-CS3-Nature-Photographers-Workshop/dp/0470119896/ref=sr_1_1/002-1153315-5263205?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1187223938&sr=1-1), though I haven't finished it yet. Good photographer-specific info.
