Great series Allen, #1 looks like it might be a Great Crested Flycatcher. I got a few shots of one this spring and they have that yellowish belly and the beak looks about right.

I really like the Juvie Robin. :)

That's what a bird expert told me on a forum a bit ago but jury's still out.

Man oh man you have served up some real beauties here. The flycatcher is exposed very well and the focus and comp are right on. Woodpeckers are amongst my favourite birds and this one's a real knockout with nice focus on the eye. I am mad about green Herons and this is a great action shot that is exceptionally crisp and clean. But my pick is the Juvi Robin which has everything a great capture needs....sharp focus, incredible detail, true colours, classic pose, good BG and a twinkle in his eye. Exceptionally well done.

Nice drama to the heron shot.

Odds say the first bird is a great crested flycatcher, because they are so widespread and common in the southeast. There are three other species of similar size and similar markings that could potentially be this bird, any of which would be quite an unusual sighting in Tennessee. Which of the other three species does your bird expert think might be in the running?

You might also give the folks at www.birdersworld.com a try. They have a "Bird ID" button under the "Contact Us" category so you can send an image and other pertinent data so their birding experts at the magazine can offer an ID. The times I've used them I've had a reply back within a day.

Fabulous shots Allen. All them are wall hangers.

It appears to be Great Crested. Thanks for all the ID help and comments. I'm not good at ID-ing flycatchers

Four excellent images with the Green Heron pose and catch making it my favourite here.

The robin gets my vote. I have some shots of the speckled chest also so glad to know it is a juvie robin.

They are all excellent Allen but I really like the young Robin. Everything looks just perfect.
