Is a boxer for real or a model? I like the 2nd image alot. The skintones are nice. I have dark skin also so I am really into people getting skintones right when they photograph black people. That was one of the reasons I got into photography - I hated the way photographers ignored dark skin.

Is a boxer for real or a model? This is a model. It took a while to set the overhead softbox on a boom and get the right exposure. You're right - getting it with black shiny skin is challenging.

These are great. I plan on doing this with MMA fighters in the near future.

As a Thai boxing coach and a photographer the thing that stands out the most in my opinion (and most people will not even notice) is the props. The headgear you used is from Karate/TKD and no boxer will wear it. The gloves are cheap plastic and really stand out. I understand it's only a prop and you don't want to spend $100 on a pair of leather gloves but it immediately gives away the authenticity of the image in my opinion.

I have actually shot 2 girls today dressed as boxers but our aim was more for a sexy look than realizem.

As for the light. I have done something very similer and posted it on this thread: http://photography-on-the.net/forum/showthread.php?t=295183

Good point about the gear. I noticed that too but I don't think most people would know.

I'm looking forward to seeing your shots of the ladies.

The ladies are on my website: http://www.SiamStarMuayThai.com/photography

The album is called Boxer Girls. Those are straight from the camera. No PP yet. It's just so they can view them and select the ones they like best.

I am feeling completely the opposite way -- while the skin's texture was beautifully captured, I thought the colours were way off. Her skin looks darkish-red to me, especially on the arms. Does the skintone really have that deep red shade in it?

In the first photo she is wearing hi top boxing shoes, gloves can very well be low bugdet sparring or speed bag gloves. Head gear can not really see if the bottom of head gear is tie down, her gloves are in the way of her chin. I have seen some low budget training gyms :) One thing for sure is you will not do a amateur match with that head gear.

Will agree on skin tone there may be a touch to mush saturation with red tint.
pretty mush looks like a modeling shoot.

Yes, the gear we had was really cheap, lol. I did not realize it was going to be so obvious, but then again it's a model portfolio shoot so when we get hired by Nike, hopefully they'll send in some gear as well :). Really thought, thanks for the comments. One take away for me is to be more meticulous with gear and props.

As for "have done something very similer and posted it on this thread: http://photography-on-the.net/forum/...d.php?t=295183" I like the pose and the model very much. Good job with the lighting too. I would probably tilt the overhead box to spill some light to the background. It would separate the model's body from the deep black and show some muscular definition line.

Now this [The ladies are on my website: http://www.SiamStarMuayThai.com/photography] is a different story. I like the models - they seem to have potential. But the pictures in general...I am not so sure. Despite that pictures are unedited, not only do I not get any sexyness out of them, but also for my personal taste the dull lighting and uninteresting poses leaves them somewhat in the missed opportunity page. Thought provocative images generally look great and in many cases rise emotions, but I can't find it in these images.
