got this today. ive not really had spam like this as such so im not really sure.

what struck me was that it wasnt sent personally to me, it was sent to another 5 photographers in my area as well. i know couples send out alot of emails to various TOGS but you would think they would send them individually.
Do you's think this is spam or a genuine enquiry:

Hi, i was just wondering if you covered civil ceremonys. I was looking for a
price for a civil cermony on the xxxxxxx this year, with 40 guests. I was
just looking for pictures at and after the ceremony but not the recpetion.
It is being held at park circus in Glasgow. If you are available on this
date, and could offer your services if you could send me an email or ring my
mobile xxxxxxxxxxx with a quote that would be appredciated, and i can give
you more details.

thank you for your time

Genuine is my guess. Just not too smart ;)

It sounds genuine, because it doesn't try to convince you to believe that it's real.
I think some brides just change the name of the photographer, and email to bunch of them.

I get those generic emails a lot. As tim referrers, the annoying price shopper.

I prefer to have quality referalls, who have seen my work first hand, or word of mouth. Always a more positive experience.

I'll speak as a consumer and not as a photographer. my daughter got married this past May and I needed to shop for a photographer. It is a challenge finding: right style, right price, how they package their services, availability etc etc. So you contact numerous possibles and then narrow your choices.

Not sure I agree with this persons approach in doing that but if you want business I guess you have to respond to inquiries...

it sounds genuine, I would give them a call and find out for sure though since they provided a mobile phone. If you don't have prices in your site, it's possible that they emailed several photographers to get quotes, doesn't necessarily mean they want low budget service.

My contact form asks for phone numbers, I always call, otherwise I don't know if they even got my email. Spam filters suck.
