Was shooting a piercing/hook pull ritual led by fakir mustafar (bodyplay.com) this past weekend. The ritual is similiar to a plains indian sundance....

In the movie "Miracle" coach Herb Brooks yells at his team "This isn't weaving for weaving's sake!" - meaning if you do something you should have a purpose.

I see it off a lot of overprocessed shots here and the overprocessing does nothing to enhance the impact of image. Weaving for weaving's sake.

This image is a perfect example of when this type of processing should be used. I loved to do solarization in my black and white lab when I was high school, but I rarely had a shot that I should solarize. This is a surreal image, beautiful and frightening, both sublime and grotesque. Applying this processing to this image absolutely magnifies all of those characteristics.

Well done, excellent shot, and an excellent choice in processing.

Thanks very much Rad!!!

I really had to think about what do to with photo because I knew it was intense and scarey and incredibly sublime........shooting the ritual was way intense. Not because of the subject matter---- ive been to sundances, sweat lodges, etc.---but because the energy was so deep. I had my own trance state going then I was jumping in and out of other people's energies and psyche's...
So I wanted to do a shot that really showed the intense energy AND that depth of sublime.

I'm glad it succeeds in that for you!
