I've been playing around with Photomatix for the very first time. Tone Mapped HDR photograph using Photomatix. C&C welcomed.
Took the original picture as the security personnel at the building behind me was grouping together to kick me out. Funny, I took a picture of the building across the street, but the building I wasn't even shooting or pointing my camera at had security after me.
Taken with my 350D using the Sigma 10-20mm @ 10mm

this worked really well as an HDR, particularly for your first effort...as an image it seems off balance to me, with all the weight ie; buildings on the left hand side.

Very interesting. I know nothing about HDR, or how it works, but these buildings weem off somehow. It looks like the 3 buildings on the right are sitting at a dfferent angle than the 3 buildings on the left. It is messing with my head...maybe it was the lens, but either way I am intrigued by it...

The angle of the shot was kinda weird, the security guys were running after me, so I had to frame and shot fairly quickly. ;)

They didn't want me taking pictures. Even though it wasn't of their building, they were so paranoid about the camera. They told me that their building (555 California St. Bank of America building; Tallest building in San Francisco) was copyrighted.:) I have a thread on people freaking out when they see a camera, this was one of my stories...LOL
Thank you, Superdiver.

BTW, I process this in Photomatix using one exposure which I adjusted the exposure in LightZone +2 EV and -2EV. Then Tonemapped.

Wow, I did not know that you could copyright a building...

Apparently so. But arguably, I think it is 'fair use' to take a picture that is out in a public space of a noteworthy building for your personal collection.

i have no clue what your talking about. i love the look of HDR, but i need a book or a teacher to learn how to do it. i tried it with the free software.....but... i ran into a whole ton of problems. lol.

I like the colors and angle.
And next time you get harassed, call the cops on them. You're not doing anything wrong, don't act like it. Take the power back.

Yeah, they were real polite, actually waited after the shutter clicked and asked me in professional way to "move on".;)

I hate how paranoid people are these days. Thank God I'm not into people photography. Impossible.
LOVE the shot!!!

Thanks Matt, where in KY are you at? I got a very good friend that is from there, funny he said it doesn't really have a name for the city, they simply use the Rd close by which was Raccoon Rd or something. Anyway, got a question for you, How do you pronounce the capitol of Kentucky? (This joke may be better heard than read though :) )

what were your settings for each of the pics used to build the HDR image ? Did you use 3 or 4 or... ?

Same picture, just saved it two additional times, changing the EV to -2 and +2 respectively.

Capital: Frankfort "frank-four-t" lol
Largest city: Louisville "lu-val"
You should hear non-natives pronounce Louisville. Yikes!

Yeah, that's why the joke is better heard...The answer would have been Frankfurt. LOL
But yeah Luval, but we say LU-IS Ville or LU-E-VIL.
