Hi. I am going to Greek islands next week for my honeymoon. I am going to be in Athens, Paros, Mykonos and Santorini. I would like to ask you guys for some advice on where to go while I am there.

I have Canon Xti and working on getting a new lenses for the trip 10-22 and either 24-105 f4 or 24-70 f2.8. Any suggestions on which lens would be better for the trip. Should i take a tripod with me?

I have never been to Greece or even Europe. Should i be worried bringing expensive camera equipment with me?

Thank you very much in advance!!!

Yan

hi i'm from Greece, you shouldnt be too worried about bringing expensive equipment to Greece. I did all my vacations on the greek islands with the equipment on my signature. No problems whatsoever.

I would prefer the zoomiest of all of your lenses since you might find yourself in a boat going to somewhere and want to snap a small church on the top of a mountain overlooking the sea for example.

check out some pic galleries of greece for the places you are going to

Paros: http://www.greecephotos.gr/gallery/thumbnails.php?album=91
Santorini: http://www.greecephotos.gr/gallery/thumbnails.php?album=92
Mykonos: http://www.greecephotos.gr/gallery/thumbnails.php?album=90

Santorini is BY FAR the most picturesque island.. check it out!

have fun and return with lots of pics!

Paros is nice but Santorini is fabulous!
Check my web photo page (http://www.larios.gr)for a Santorini gallery to see what's it about, as well as for a Santorini Slideshow (http://www.larios.gr/section116382.html)(leave your comment if you like it!).

You should have no problem bringing whatever equipment with you... Thousands of tourists do it! Santorini is considered top-destination worldwide.

I would bring the 10-22 as well as the 24-105 (light is no problem in Greece).

I also went again (4th time!) to Paros this summer, and now preparing my photos to be presented at a different Gallery in the following weeks.

Tell me what you think!

Regards,

You should be safe in the islands and even in (most parts of) Athens.
Enjoy your journey, it's a good one! :)

I think the 10-22 and 24-105 will make an effective set of lenses for this trip. I never felt any concern for safety in my visit to Greece. I didn't make Santorini, but understand it is great.

I went to Greece in May and took my 10-22, 24-70, and 70-200. I took about 80% of my pictures with the 24-70. I got this lens set last Christmas and found that I love the 24-70 as my main walk around lens. Some of my pictures are at http://www.reeljig.com/Photos/Greece2007/index.html
