Being a little tired of not being able to get good hummer shots, I grabbed the bag and went off to Eastern Neck Island this morning. In one small pond, I saw:

an egret

who seemed concerned with the skies above him

and this was due to the family of Screaming Eagles flying overhead (only one of which I got a half-way decent shot of).

He was also worried about this guy in the trees nearby, who was waiting for the photographer to leave before he'd come down.

and just as I was ready to leave, I noticed this guy in the shrubbery quite near the edge of the pond

so I think I'll go take a nap now.....

Did you use the 100-400 for these? Looks like some of them were cropped?

yes - I did, and they are crops. Even with a fairly co-operative subject, I couldn't get as close as I'd like.
