I know this has been hashed through a million times.
The reason for me asking is I know the 10D is the newer version and obviously should have some improvements over the D60. But what are these features?
The price is also a concern but the more I look the more I see that people what roughly 900-1200 dollars for a used D60. Thats not much off of a 10D but those D60 people paid alot more for their cameras when they came out.
I want a Canon digital SLR but dont know if I want to make the plunge into the 10D but I want a camera with its capabilties and dont want a Drebel.
Any feedback would be awsome and appreciated.

1.) 10D has better low-light focus capability
2.) Zoom on LCD for 10D
3.) FAT32 for 10D
4.) 8 Frames burst mode for D60 vs 9 for 10D
5.) 3 AF sensors for D60 vs 7 for 10D (could be a pro or con)
6.) ISO 1600/3200 for 10D, D60 has max of 1000
If these things are important to you, by all means, go for the 10D. In the end, the images are the same. If I was in the same situation and the money matter, the D60 is still a damn good camera.

The ISO function is really nice but I dont think I cant get that good of a deal of D60 because the 10D is nicely priced.

People paid for a D30 much more...

.
2.) the lcd on my d60 lets me zoom on the images.
5.) most people only use the centre one anyway.

evilenglishman - Do you have a D60? :P
It sounds like they changed quite a few things on the 10D from the D60 but as a starter camera the D60 sounds like it will do what I need it to do.

2.) Zoom on LCD for 10D
The display on a D60 has one stage of zoom (in or out).

Whoops, sorry bout that guys (imaging resource didn't have a value for the LCD zoom).
my post was no way meant to be a D60 bashing, just to point out the differences.
Sorry, I use all 7 Points 90% of the time. :o

yes i do, although i dont think there are enough changes/improvements on a 10D to justify an upgrade, maybe when something comes out to replace the 10D - but not until then.
Aside from the larger ISO (which is virtually unusable anyway) just about everything else is cosmetic or handling performance related.
FAT32 - only if you want cards bigger than 2gb. Most people will tell you that thaey stick with 1gb cards anyway in case of failure.
8 frame burst instead of 9 - I can live with one frame less.
3 AF sensors instead of 7 - i (and many others) only use the centre point anyway.

I currently use a Rebel Ti 35mm camera and I switch it to one point AF as well. Is the D60 a tank like the 10D? Should I have to worry about buying a used D60? If so, what should I look out for?

yes it is built like a tank. As for buying one, try to get one from a reputable shop as most will give you a few months guarantee on it - which is better than nothing

personaly I wouldn't as you wont have much comeback 'if' something should go wrong.
Having said that I'm probably going to be putting mine on ebay in a few months :?

How is the higher ISO virtually unusable?
I have used ISO 1600 several times and find it to be a valuable option. ISO 3200 does not have me so keen, I have it disabled.
If I owned a D60 then I probably wouldn't be worried about upgrading, but current pricing on new 10D is getting pretty good. For someone looking to buy a D-SLR now I would highly recommend a 10D.

No. I'm waiting on delivery of a D70 and will see how it performs before dumping the D60
