What lens are you using and what type of shooting do you do ?
This is the one I use , http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/353322-REG/Bogen_Manfrotto__3021BPRO_Tripod_Black_with.html .

I dont travel alot with my tripod. I usually use a monopod for things that require any movement. I need something that is very sturdy, as I tend to be somewhat rough on my tripods. I do alot of still lives and high detail long exposures, another reason I need something sturdy. I mostly like the head on that, as it looks extremely precise.

Ah, then you might need something like that one. I move around a lot with mine, thru the woods . over the hill . Stuff like that.

That tripod is rugged enough to hold the Hubble. Might be ok in a studio, but not real practical for field work. This model will do the same things for half the price and less weight to boot.

Heavy doesn't necessary mean stronger or sturdier. Have you consider their sister company or same importer (Bogen), Gitzo models Tripod and Real Right Stuff (not same importer) Head. I don't have these combo but if I'm considering dropping almost $800 I would definitely want Gitzo and Real Right Stuff or Kirk or Wimblely Heads.

If I'm reading the specs right, that combo uses the RC4 release plates. You'll find them quite awkward on a Dslr; you might want to look for a head that takes the RC2 release plates, which are a much better match for the camera's body.

Sorry lol.
THe neotec legs are ok - but you will struggle with getting them all to the same length. Not as fast to set up as you would think.
The downside is that this thing is a beast in terms of weight. My guidance is that a tripod/ballhead that is over 5 lbs is too heavy to carry for any length of time and therefore does not get used.
My advice is to pass.

AS monoball and plate are first rate. The knob clamp is fine unless you need to change cameras or rotate them with an L plate frequently.
Only comment on the tripod is check the height without column extended with the height of the head and then your camera to make sure you can get to eye level without stooping. Numbers are all there in the specs on B&H's site. You might want an L 3530 to get more height if you're tall.
This is all really nice stuff and will last a long, long time.

Alright ill check the height. And a long lasting tripod is perfect. I tend to be a little rough on them. Not negligent mind you. ;-)

Im 60" tall so the 52" + 4" for head + 2" for camera = 58. Its right about the right level. Its either a little short or about 5 inches too tall. Too tall wouldn't be too good.

Yes, but you don't have to extend the legs all the way. If it was too short you'd be extending the column, which many consider to considerably add to instability.

Your right. I was wondering how easy it was though to make sure all the legs in one section are extended the same amount so that it isnt off kilter at all?

Some have marked them with something like a Sharpie marker. It sounds like you're pretty close though as your eyes will be a little shorter than you are:).

Alpha,
if you're doing product shots (small objects), you might prefer the gitzo explorer (http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/410286-REG/Gitzo_G2258_G2258_Explorer_6X_Carbon.html) because the pivoting arm allows you to put the camera where you want it.
And, for the kind of money you're thinking about spending, definitely go with an ARCA system. My choice would be either Really Right Stuff or Acratech, but I haven't handled the A-S brand. Markins also has some devoted fans.

What are you trying to do with a tripod? how do you intend to use it? What focal lengths?

Wow...did you win the powerball jackpot? Most expensive doesn't always equal most practical!

I posted earlier that I do alot of detailed long exposures, still lives, and portraits as well, although i tend to use handheld or monopod more for portraits. I need something very sturdy and easy to precisely adjust. I also tend to be somewhat rough on my tripods, the last few were cheap and broke rather soon.
I didnt win the jackpot, but im planning on getting what I need before I head off to school and I want something that will get me my moneys worth and last a long a$$ time.
Thanks for all the input so far guys.
