Hi
I'm Nancy. I've been taking photos for 37 years and I feel like I'm just starting to learn how

I spend far too much of my work day here in POTN land, and for that, I'm truly sorry, but unrepentant.

Good morning all, from my cube,

Toogy and Grace,

It went into endless sleep mode on its own will one night while I was using it at a graduation party.

It lasted exactly 4 months before it died...I'm getting it fixed, but this sucks soooo much more than normal...

Since I'm at it, I hope you don't mind me telling you my sad story...get tissues...hehehe!

I live in Brazil, and we have a lot of grey market stuff here, so I decided to pay more and by my XTi from a store in NYC...and I got CPS extended warranty for about USD 230. I had to sell my little brother to pay for import taxes (JK, but it was very expensive).

I was so not worried when my camera stopped working, since I knew I had the extended warranty...but after 3 weeks of daily phone calls and emails, my coverage was "denied" by CPS and I'm paying USD 400 to get my XTi fixed now out of my own pocket...

I'm sooooo going to find a big fat duck to shoot when I get it back!! Hopefully by the end of next week. :)

Well, that's my story... sniff sniff...

I'd like to get that one or the 35L. My choice will depend on the number of bookings for next year. But I need to replace both of my ancient DSLR's first. The 20D images are looking kind of funky. I think it needs to be recalibrated or something.

How so? Just curious, my 20D is getting pretty old as well, but I haven't noticed anything funky with the images.
I'll probably get a 40D when they come out this fall and relegate the 20D to my 3rd camera.

Some of them just look...funky. It's hard to explain. It may be a problem with a particular lens, though. But I've heard that 20D's develop a problem with focus as they get older and have to be sent in for calibration. I'm going to replace the 10 and 20 with a 5 and a 30 by next fall, if at all possible. Never thought I'd buy a 5D, since my preference is sports, but I'm making more money in areas where the 5 could be beneficial.

To be honest, I never understood the fixation of getting a 5d. I mean, sure, it's got great resolution and it's full-frame. But, I can get the same focal length on my 30D w/ IS. Case in point, 24-70 on a 5D is the same focal length as the 17-55 2.8 IS on my 30D, but on my 30D, I get the IS.

It's really cool. You can create playlists of your favorite songs to listen to when you're online. They let you put up to 75 per list and you can include them on your My Space and Facebook profiles. I'm listening to mine right now while I work on an order and jump back on here from time to time.

I'm not saying that you should do it. Crap, I wouldn't even do it just yet, probably not for another 2 or 3 years. That's something you look into once you have the market and the need for the best of the best for websites.

In the meantime, Jeff suggested one yesterday, I don't remember what it was called, but they were cheap, like $250 or something.

bcap
17th of August 2007 (Fri), 08:56
The problem is that we're living in a highly-technological age. The way clients find us is through websites. When we hand out cards, we have our website on it. Everything I give out is branded with the company name and website (i.e. final print envelopes, cards, flyers, ads, etc). There is no doubt that clients will visit our website.

I was talking with my landlord the other day, who just told me he was getting married. I asked if the had started to look for a photographer and he said that they had already booked one. I asked who it was and why they went with him. He said that they looked everywhere (on the net, finding sites from the phone book, etc), and all the websites looked cheap and grundgy. The guy they went with, he said that he had a great website and that was the main pushing factor.

Now this is talking to someone who has no idea about anything photography related. The visual appeal or "curb appeal" of the photographer's website was attractive, and, got him some business.

bcap

I know how you feel. I'll be glad to get my upgraded ghetto website up and running. The one I have now was just to get something up on the web that wasn't Smugmug. Yeah Jeff, I was on noXplode not too long ago. Gives you a great pump for the gym, but, aside from that, nothing.

If anything, I'd suggest you give "Superpump" a try. It's a blend of Tricreatine Malate (the good stuff, not the crappy old monohydrate) and NO2. Gives you a great pump for the gym, but you actually see improvements, and you don't lose them when you go off it.

They had a recall on those here just a couple of weeks ago. I hear they make your lens shrink.

That's a different kind of juice ... ;)

Hey Bryan or anybody else, have you heard of Nitric Oxide (NO2) supplements for working out? I got a super deal on some the other day, just wondering if they are as good as they are supposed to be? Anyone tried them before?

I can ask my son in law..he and buddies are into bodybuilding...I'll let cha know.

Hello all...

My name is Fabian Hickenbick.

I've been sober from photography since July 21st, when my camera died on me...

I can't take it anymore.

Sober from photography, sure, but I'd've taken up drinking if my camera died.

Deltroid that is truly sad and very unfair. But since you still have your little brother, maybe you could sell him now to expidite the shipping?

it depends on what kind of warranty he's offering on his brother...

Not what you'd imagine from your average wedding tog - but it's all good :-)

If I we're getting married - I'd book him - he could be the DJ too
