cropped but i am not used to seeing crops quite so square
not to say thats not ok but std matt holes of 8x10 or 5x7 are what my eye is used to
i did not do the math on your crop and you can custom size things for publication or custom cut matts or whatever
i might have caught more of the white flower

cropped looks a lot better. The white flower on the green background looks good and being soooo close to the lady bug.

bravo

Yeh also I prefer the cropped one. However, I think I would have moved the crop rectangle a bit right and down. It would have included the entire white flower and would have moved both the flower and the bug to a thirds position, thus improving composition.

To Jonnyhorizon... if you are not used to square then please go and experiment with it. Of course this is all personal taste but I really love the square format. I try it by default on all pictures where I think cropping is required... not saying that square is always better than rectangular of course.

I prefer the uncropped because the cropped one has lost some detail and sharpness. Its a great photo, btw.

Cropped but I would prefer one where the bug is not partially in the shadow.
