ok i know when i was looking at the 300d that you have the option of cranking the f/stop up to 91
what kind of lens do you need to get that?
or is it possible?

The available aperture range depends on the lens you're using. Most lenses don't go smaller than f/22 or f/32.

You might think that f/91 would be nice because you'd have an enormous depth of field, but actually your photos will get less sharp when you use such a small aperture. At about f/22 or smaller, the sharpness of a lens is limited by diffraction.

Most lenses give the best sharpness from about two stops stopped down from their maximum aperture until about f/16.

I once had a lens that allowed me to go to F/99.
But for some reason all my pictures ended up looking like this:

Actually for that you'd need a Canon 311Ds body. :P

My 70-200 f4L goes to f32. With the 1.4X extender goes to f45. I would assume that with the 2.0X extender that it might to to f64.

That seems to be just about the max for the Canon lens lineup.

Yes, I can get f/64 out of my Sigma 70-200 with the 2.0 teleconverter. Buy why I would ever use this is beyond me. Seeing '64' on your camera for f-stop is kind of novel though.

You'd think with that hacked firmware one would expect at least an f/150 or better.

I think that is what it is set up for. Teleconverters. You'd have to put on like 10 of em, but I'm sure someone out there has done it before.

With the 70-200f4L and the 2x + 1.4X extenders added, you should get to nearly f90.

Ansel was part of the F64 club. Adams, Weston, and someone else... Great photographers will very strong backs. Dont think I could have lugged around that 8x10 camera.

Maybe its for close ups of the sun F91 at 1/10000 of a second?

High f's are for Landscapes mainly.. So you can get everything in focus. However, this is close to impossible to do with color photography, Black and White is the way to go.
