No LCD display on G3 only Error 999 showing. What does this code mean. Have taken out battery and re-inserted to no avail. Anything else to try other than return to Canon. Thanks, Mike.

I don't know what this error is off the top of my head.

I found this site through a google search for the error:
http://www.worldoffax.com/G3%20Service%20Codes.htm

The error is listed down at the bottom.

Personally, I've never come across this problem so I don't know if that is accurate or not.

If you don't find a solution, I'll get back to you on Monday.

Hi [default] and click

The link above is for the Canon G3 Fax machines, thus it is not related to the Canon powershot G3 digital camera.

Sorry

Same here.

Readind the G3 manual, I found that the error codes are in Exx format. That let me think that the error codes are two digit codes preceded by the letter E.

The only reference I found for Canon cameras and 999 is about using big SD cards with capacity for more than 1000 images, then the number 999 appears in the Remaining Image Capacity (see your manual pg. 15) until the card is near full, but all the camera is operational.

If you are using a big CF card, test with a small one, just in case.
