G7 Issues? Help!

I "just" bought my G7 awhile back and don't shoot a lot with it. I picked it up today to play around because I was bored. It wont focus on anything in macro mode and powers itself off (while trying to shoot). When it "thinks" its focused on something its actually still way out of focus. Has anyone else experienced this? I'm afraid I am going to have to send it in for repair?! I have probably shot less than 500 images with it so I'm a little disappointed!

I assume you have fully charged batteries.
Set it to default settings and try again.That will just restore it to what it was when you first fired it up when new.

Yep, battery is freshly charged. I didn't try to reset it to the defaults but I will try that.


Ok I reset everything to its default setting and that seems to have fixed the problem? But, im still confused as to why that would fix it? Does that actually reset the "whole" camera or just the default menu settings? Oh, well it working now so I guess I should just be thankful I don't have to send it in for repair!

Well I have been taught a few things from a friend of mine that has a computer business, When all obvious things don't work, reset to defaults or reinstall program.
I suppose you could compare it to messing up your filing system and then putting it back in order. (or you can use the term gremlins) Yes they do exist!
