View Full Version : multiple hot pixels on a G1 -- out of nowhere!

I was shooting the evening sky in New Zealand with my trusty old G1, and *all of a sudden* it developed 4 or 5 hot pixels, literally not there on one shot but on every subsequent shot afterwards.
I know they can be blotted out using various techniques, that isn't what perplexes me.
Any ideas on how or why they would spontaneously appear?

Was the camera warm/hot? Heat can cause considerable image noise, maybe hot pixels.
If you now take a shot with a cool camera and the lens cap on, do you still get the same hot pixels?

the same happened to me and it now seems that they are permanent. i have a total of 6 of them. they vary in intensity and even color depending on the shot, but they are always there. is there any software that can help batch fix my pictures so i don't have to do it manually? or is there something i can do with my camera to minimize them or make them dissappear forever? please let me know, thanks!

Don't know about that but there's this tool that's supposed to work well.
