Can anyone make the same wonderful photos as Pekka did? :D

I still cannot produce any photo as clean, sharp, accurate coloring as Pekka's did in his "Seven months with Canon G1" album even bought a Canon G1.

Appreciate if someone can make a tutorial page to unlock this mystick skill :!:

Back in the "good old days" when the G1 was a high-end digicam and this forum was in its infancy, there were a few jokes about the crisp Finnish air giving Pekka's pictures a certain quality and sharpness that couldn't be replicated in the rest of the world. Maybe it was true?

OK, I just consulted one of my friend who said clean air can produce nice picture.

But is there any way to make nice photos through digital dark room?

Yes, I never seen anyone can produce such nice coloring photo as Pekka did. Even Canon's official photo samples are not better than this.

Therefore, I want to know how Pekka post processed these photos step by step. Better it someone can write a tutorial online. :D

The ability to post process is secondary to what is there on viewfinder at the moment you take the photo and how you choose to take it (technically). Most of G1 photos were taken on tripod and timer, or flash(es) was used. Also, subjects were quite still and in night shots I specifically went out in certain weather and time of day and year to seek out the look I wanted. G1s deep DOF even with open aperture helps with a "sharp" look. Choosing a clear uncluttered subject in flattering light helps a lot, as does shooting RAW.

Nowadays with DSLR's I try to use _very_ high shutter speeds and best lenses to keep the quality at maximum because my subjects mostly move a lot. I also use same basic principles as with G1: compositon of uncluttered subject in flattering light at a good moment. With moving subjects (people) and in conditions you can not always control this, it can be challenging and that is why it is so interesting and fun.

The rest is about your taste of color (WB in RAW processing) and sharpness you require. Making sharp small size web samples is easy compared to the photography itself. You can read my G1 workflow if you open e.g. http://photography-on-the.net/gallery/photo.php?photo=316 and click link "G1 RAW workflow" under the photo.
