My wife and I are planning a holiday in Alberta later this year. I made a quick business trip to Edmonton and Calgary last year, with an afternoon sidetrip to Banff (note to self .... never, never, never leave home without camera!!!!). This year, I thought we would head to Canmore and make that a base of operations. However, I'm now thinking it might make more sense to use Calgary as a base for one-day and two-day photo trips ... checked out the Tourism Calgary web site and they suggested five daytrips (Rockies, Heritage, Dinosaurs, etc.).
Any input/ideas from Calgarians would be welcome ... not only regarding using Calgary as base, but any suggestions for shooting sidetrips.
We are from the Toronto area, and our phototrips usually end up getting published in local newspapers, since I am connected with them. However, I'd like to get input from fellow photographers, and not just the media flacks who will point us in the direction they want.
thanks,
jim
