seems a bit dark to me, I can't really make out much detail in the picture. I do like the composition though

This is a lovely scene that could have been turned into a much better rendition through Merge to HDR.

Fully half of the image is lost in the deep shadows with values of 0 through 6 and the other half of the pixels are in the range 7 through 255. Classic case of not enough dynamic range in the 8-bit RGB format to capture all of the important detail.

Simply shoot from a tripod and take 2 or 3 shots with different exposures in order to capture the full range of scene values. Then use one of the available HDR products to merge them into one image.
